Clinical Research Jobs

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Clinical Research involves systematical study on upcoming medicines and drugs. A clinical research is conducted in order to verify the procedures and components used for manufacturing of a medical product. Manufacturing of a drug or medicine invariably involves biological and chemical data and information usage, which are monitored by the CRA professionals. Clinical research jobs require high dedication in determining whether the drug is meeting the efficacy and safety parameters.

CRA jobs involve accuracy in determining safety and efficiency of a brand new drug. The processes involve clinical trials by professionals adept in the field. Four major phases take place under the vigilance of a proficient doctor and a number of researchers. Here it goes:

At first the drug is tested on a group of 25-30 healthy people under vigilance of an experienced doctor. The main aim of this particular phase is to determine whether the subjects are tolerant to the compounds in the composition of the drug.

The second phase starts with the examination of the drug, where the medicine is again tested on a separate group of 150-300 patients. The procedure is conducted with an aim to ascertain the final effects or any side-effects of the drug on human body.

In the third phase the group gets bigger with around 1000-5000 patients on whom the drug test is completed. Researchers statistically analyse the effects of the compound on a large mass. This is easy because you get to obtain the actual results. A favourable result on the data analysis would prove the potency of the drug. This phase is usually a crucial and the final one to determine the proficiency of the drug consumed by the human body.

The last phase is the observational part of the entire clinical research program. This part of course is important to know the main effects of the medicine.
